Designing a Modern Office

This traditional office needed an update and storage. It was designed to be transitional style with clean lines. The professional female client wanted it to be white and airy. The floor was replaced from a busy porcelain tile to a wide plank wood-look porcelain tile. This was done throughout the living space. I selected the flooring and paired it with a Benjamin Moore Aura Paint in color 982 with a matte finish, which is a gray/beige mix popular in today's design. There was a small out-cove, perfect for a much needed walk-in storage closet. Part of the budget went to having the wall for the closet built and the crown molding and baseboard patched where needed. The closet was custom outfitted for maximum use of the space. Instead of using a typical door, I designed one made of Colorcore Laminate, the same material as the cabinets and decorative shelving. The custom cabinets and floating shelves are white Colorcore Laminate, and the two work stations are topped with a Calacatta Oro polished marble. The comfortable roller adjustable chairs are a matte leather that blend nicely with the wall color and complement the veining in the marble. The outrageous light fixture is the star of the show and what caused the budget to be a bit higher. The handles on the cabinets are a shiny chrome with a shape that nicely complements the curve of the crystal beading on the chandelier.
